September 05, 2019: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will conduct Capacity Building Programs for high school teachers in association with Microsoft India with an aim to integrate cloud-powered technology in K12 teaching. Meant for teachers of grades 8-10, the program will be conducted in 10 cities across the country, starting September 11, 2019. AI and intelligent technologies are becoming all-pervasive today, transforming organizations across sectors and redefining the way we work. To equip the workforce of tomorrow, it is critical to the ramp up the institutional set-up and build capability among educators as well as integrate advanced technologies into the teaching process. This program will provide teachers better access to the latest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools and help them to integrate technology into teaching in a safe and secure manner, thereby enhancing the learning experience and 21st century skills of all students.


Microsoft, CBSE join hands to build AI learning for schools

New Delhi: Microsoft India and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have partnered to conduct capacity building programmes for high school teachers with an aim to integrate cloud-powered technology in K12 teaching. Meant for teachers of grades 8-10, the programme will be conducted in 10 cities across the country, starting 11 September 2019. This programme will provide teachers better access to the latest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools and help them integrate technology into teaching in a safe and secure manner, thereby enhancing the learning experience and 21st century skills of all students. The 1000 teachers nominated by CBSE will undergo a 3-day project-based training for practical, hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools such as OneNote, Flipgrid, Teams, Outlook & Minecraft and Paint3D Microsoft. They will also learn about digital story-telling, creation of personalized learning experiences for diverse learners, use of Teams for virtual lessons and how to leverage Artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create Bots and demystify concepts around AI.


Pure Storage all-flash storage ready to zero in on AI and cloud

Pure Accelerate 2019 comes at a pivotal time in Pure Storage's evolution from a flash storage pioneer to a publicly traded company with more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Flash vendors are grappling with uneven prices for NAND flash -- a scenario some analysts predict will linger for at least the next several years. Pure Storage all-flash storage is not out of the headwinds, although it appears to be weathering the storm for now. After back-to-back quarters of stalled flash sales, Pure all-flash revenue jumped last quarter. The company signed up more than 450 new enterprises, bringing its total customer base to around 6,600 paying customers.


Using IoT, AI and cloud to advance home-based integrated care

One of the largest growing demographics in the EU is individuals aged 65 and over, and two thirds of this group are in situation of multimorbidity, i.e., perons who suffer from two or more chronic diseases. The ineffective treatment of multimorbidity has been pointed out as an urgent problem to address by the Academy of Medical Sciences in a recently released report. As part of an EU H2020 funded project called ProACT, our team at IBM Research – Ireland is working with partners in academia and industry to find new ways to use IoT, AI and cloud technologies to advance self-management capabilities and home-based integrated care for Persons with Multimorbidity (PwM). The ProACT project is investigating ways wearable, home sensors and tablet applications can be used to help persons with multimorbidity, as well as their support actors, which include informal caregivers (e.g. The project includes proof-of-concept trials in Ireland and Belgium, involving national health services, with a number of patients equipped with wearable and home sensors, and their support actors.
